Program Introduction

The Master of Clinical Psychology 2023 is a professional degree program at UMT for those who wish to pursue a career as a clinical psychologist. Graduates are taught to enhance their conceptual skills and apply advanced knowledge, principles, and methods relevant to the professional practice of Clinical Psychology. The degree aims to promote the international standards of Clinical Psychology in Pakistan as an independent discipline and caters to the growing demands of health sector. Retain School Psychology is an important part of this program which deals with intellectual and emotional well-being of school children.

The Master of Clinical Psychology is a two-year full-time course consisting of four semesters. Throughout the course, students will be taught on the basis of an integrated model, where lectures, workshops, and placements take place consecutively. It is a practice-based program where the specific focus is paid to the spirit of professional education and training in action. Each trainee is allocated a tutor – a member of the faculty whom the trainee meets regularly in small group meetings for tutorials, seminars, and guidance. The tutors monitor and evaluate the trainee’s, progress throughout the program. Under the dynamic supervision of qualified experts, students spend two-thirds of the time on practical training whereas the academic course accounting for the remaining time covers the wide areas of Childhood and Adult Disorders, Psychological Assessment of Children and Adults, School Psychology, Research Methods, Professional and Ethical Issues, and a Research Project.

The trainees are encouraged to develop competencies in basic clinical skills and work in clinical settings to address a wide range of psychological issues. Participants master the significant methodology of psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions and use these sensibly in a professional and ethical manner. Also, they carry out research in the field of Clinical Psychology.

Graduates are given access to numerous employment opportunities including high-profile counseling and mental health services and hospitals, where they can opt for management or senior roles in these organizations and work in private practice.

Program Details

2 Years

The basic academic qualification to enter the program is 4 years BSc. H in Psychology (with CGPA of 2.0 or 60% marks in the annual system) or MSc in Psychology (1st Div.) from a University, recognized by HEC.

  • The candidate must have passed UMT Graduate Admission Test and Interview with a minimum score of 50%.
  • The candidate is selected for the performance on their admission test and interview
